Do you have a memory that has no context, and therefore makes very little sense, and yet the moment is as vivid as if it happened yesterday? (If so, feel free to share!)

Peanut butter is likely my guiltiest pleasure - even more so than manga and anime. Here in France, it is found only in 'exotique' stores selling African and Chinese/Southeast Asian goods - and even then, it's not very good. I feel like having been brought up as a white boy contributes so much to my affinity for the stuff, the power of nostalgia at work! My students here are divided: they either think it's delicious or revolting, but they all agree that it is terrible for your health. This is a really well written memory: I love seeing young writers flexing new vocabulary!
so funny, you might've just shed light on this memory. i can't recall it, but maybe that's why i had to hide it, my parents probably treated it the same way the french do, exotic, an unhealthy snack!
maybe you had already eaten a bunch in front of your parents, and they said "no more!" and sent you to bed... not to be p-nuttered, you waited until the dark of night to continue with your tasty snacking... thank god the spoon didn't break... btw, I refrigerate natural pnut butter bc of the oils, but keep Skippy, Jif, etc on the shelf for its smooth-y deliciousness! :)
You just described my evening yesterday...except it was a jar of Nutella. And I know you don't refrigerate Nutella. But I do refrigerate my peanut butter, so maybe I'm not really American.
muddle of pud is a dyslexic thing I say that I can't seem to correct but I've learned to like; a force of wabi-sabi in life.
wabi-sabi, very loosely, is that element of beauty in imperfection and imbalance, like Hagi Ware of Japanese pottery; an intuitive way of living that honors the significance of common things.
